Calculator help
Check your inputs, understand the result and keep a record of the working.
Choose a tool and check its scope
The calculator list includes installation checks, DC circuit calculations and engineering screening tools. Read the method and limits on the page before entering your inputs. You can use the tools on a phone, tablet or desktop without an account.
Read the free JCalc alternative guide to check the supported calculations and limits before choosing a tool.
Understand the calculation method
Read the maximum demand guide for load groups and phase allocation, or the copper V-75 cable sizing guide for supported installation arrangements, correction factors and screening limits.
Keep the inputs and result
Use the PDF export on the calculator to download a watermarked record of the inputs, result and working. PDF generation needs an internet connection. You accept the calculator disclaimer in the Terms when you export; the PDF is a calculation record, not a compliance certificate.
Before using a result
- Check the units, circuit type and defaults. Use the actual route length, installation method and ambient conditions where the tool asks for them.
- Review the stated method and assumptions against the licensed standards, equipment data and site conditions. Simplified and educational models have limits that still apply when a result looks reasonable.
Most tools calculate in the browser once loaded. Maximum demand, some engineering tools and PDF exports use the server, so they need a connection. An unvisited page may not be available offline.
